An opportunity to discover a gardening method that increases the yield and quality of the vegetable garden. During this course you will learn how to treat and manage a professional vegetable garden in a natural way. Keeping the economic aspect among the main objectives, you will see how to replace artificial fertilizers and manage pests in a peaceful way through the care of the soil and the use of small tools.

Organic, because it respects the legislation and, going much further, it installs a dynamic harmony between plants and soil. Intensive because the manual work favors the associations and allows to grow the vegetables very close to each other so as to ensure the right space for their development, also because it is not possible to do otherwise working with cumbersome means such as the tractor. 

Optimized to meet the economic needs of the modern world, the farms that today use this method produce much more than a conventional farm on the same land surface. The bio-intensive garden practiced by Emile takes its inspiration directly from the nineteenth-century Parisian farms and from books written 150 years ago. Emile also draws inspiration from more modern farmers whose passion and ingenuity has refined and adapted these techniques to the agriculture of the XXI century. Emile cultivates by hand, and without using chemicals, a large and healthy crop that has the taste and character of its territory.

The topics of the course will be immediately put into practice in the fields of the Fattoria dell'Autosufficienza. Step by step we will transform the gardens of the previous courses in autumn gardens in anticipation of a production of vegetables for the cold season. Through the use of the various specific tools of this manual cultivation method, you will see how to work ergonomically in order to respect your body.
