It often happens that we want to give new life to a glass jar (for example, one that held honey or legumes) or a plastic bottle, and from a sustainability perspective, it is certainly commendable, but how many times after removing the sticker have we had to deal with annoying glue residues that are so difficult to remove?
Forget about the effort of scrubbing and using various chemical solvents, there is an effective and natural method to easily remove glue from surfaces: extra virgin olive oil.
Although hard to imagine, EVO oil acts as a solvent by breaking down the chemical bonds that make up the molecular structure of the glue, effectively dissolving it.
How to remove glue residues from adhesive labels with extra virgin olive oil:
To remove any trace of adhesive glue and labels from glass and plastic surfaces, just apply some EVO oil and gently rub with your fingertips or with some kitchen paper.
You will soon notice that the surface is completely smooth and all that's left to do is wash the jar.
In cases where the glue is very strong, then you can prepare a paste made of EVO oil and baking soda and rub it on the surface. Let it sit for about half an hour and then rub again, perhaps with the help of a non-abrasive sponge.
In this case, however, it is important to keep in mind that the surface might get scratched due to the presence of baking soda granules, so it is advisable to act gently.
