Cancabaia B&B in Parma is part of what used to be a court for nobility dating back to the 17th century, situated in the foothills, 15 minutes from Parma but immersed in total rurality.
Guests can enjoy a warm but discreet family atmosphere in a quiet and relaxing environment in the middle of the countryside of Emilia Romagna. Staying at Cancabaia B&B is ideal for the tourist, for business people, for families with children and for animal-lovers who prefer to travel with their pets.
The bedrooms are in a part of the farmhouse, reserved especially for guests, with a private entrance and with complete freedom to come and go as is desired. Cats and dogs are accepted on condition notification is given when making the reservation.
Guests have access to a large terrace and a veranda to relax, converse and enjoy the tranquility of the place. You can hike in the woods and the surrounding fields on foot or by bicycle.
Breakfast, is varied and plentiful with natural/organic homemade products such as jam, cakes, fresh bread, honey, fresh milk (from our cows), eggs, Salumi (the famous Parma Ham, salame di Felino, Culaccia, Strolghino, Coppa and Culatello di Zibello) produced in the area, barley beverage, seasonal fruits, our own Parmesan Cheese and of course Italian coffee!
Our farm extends over both a flat and hilly area of 150,000 square metres and we grow fodder and cereal in biological conditions. (We have biological certification since 2000). We raise cows whose milk is used for Parmesan Cheese production. Cows are milked in the morning and afternoon and guests can drink freshly boiled milk at breakfast time; our yogurt is also produced from our own milk.
We have horses, chickens, rabits and two goats around the farm. We have fruit trees and guests can taste our cherry, plum, pear and apricot jams for breakfast. Very soon, we plan to transform the old stable which will become a multi-functional area with a fully equipped kitchen.
Once finished, cookery courses will be organized to teach how to make pasta, bread and cakes using only biological ingredients. A future intention is to create a synergistic garden, focused on permaculture.
Our solar panel installation provides the farm, the B&B and our home with electricity. Six panels and a thermo stove allows us to integrate the heating of the bedrooms.
